Every Weapon Ranked

Onimusha features a variety of weapons with different playstyles, elements, and upgrade paths. This tier list ranks every weapon by overall usefulness and power.

Your personal playstyle matters, but these rankings reflect how each weapon performs across all game content.

S-Tier Weapons

Oni Katana (Max Upgrade Katana)

The ultimate all-around weapon. Great damage, great speed, reliable combos, and elemental damage at higher upgrades. The gold standard.

  • Best for: Everyone, all situations
  • Strengths: Balanced, reliable, good at everything
  • Weaknesses: None significant

Bishamon Sword (Secret/Ultimate Weapon)

The most powerful weapon in the game. Extremely high damage, unique moveset, and devastating Oni form attacks. Obtained late or on NG+.

  • Best for: Endgame, NG+ runs
  • Strengths: Highest damage, unique combos
  • Weaknesses: Obtained very late

A-Tier Weapons

Dragon Spear

Excellent reach and crowd control. The safest weapon in the game due to its long range. Lightning element is effective against many enemies.

  • Best for: Players who like to stay at range, crowd control
  • Strengths: Long reach, lightning element, good against groups
  • Weaknesses: Less damage per hit than heavy weapons

Flame Greatsword

Devastating damage per hit. Slow, but when it connects, it hurts. Breaks armor and staggers bosses like nothing else.

  • Best for: Armored enemies, bosses, players who like heavy hits
  • Strengths: Highest per-hit damage, breaks armor
  • Weaknesses: Slow, hard to land hits on fast enemies

B-Tier Weapons

Phantom Blades (Twin Blades Max)

Incredibly fast combos and great for building Oni gauge. But low per-hit damage means you need a lot of hits to kill things.

  • Best for: Fast-paced players, building Oni gauge
  • Strengths: Fast attacks, great combo potential
  • Weaknesses: Low per-hit damage, short range

Lightning Spear

Good range and lightning damage, but outclassed by the Dragon Spear at higher upgrade levels. Solid mid-game weapon.

C-Tier Weapons

These weapons have their uses but are generally outclassed by better options.

  • Basic Bow: Useful for specific ranged situations, but damage is low and ammo is limited.
  • Starting weapons: Fine for the first hour, but replace them as soon as you can.
  • Matchlock Gun: High damage per shot but extremely slow reload. More of a gimmick than a main weapon.

How to Choose Your Main Weapon

Do not just pick the S-tier weapon. Pick the one that matches how you like to play.

  • Balanced playstyle: Katana
  • Big damage numbers: Heavy Sword / Greatsword
  • Fast combos: Twin Blades
  • Keep your distance: Spear
  • Ranged combat: Bow (secondary weapon)

Most players main one weapon and keep a secondary for specific situations (like an elemental weapon for resistant enemies).
