Talisman System Overview
Talismans are equippable accessory items in Onimusha: Way of the Sword that grant passive buffs, special abilities, and stat modifications. Unlike weapons (which are actively used in combat) or skills (which are unlocked permanently), talismans are interchangeable gear you swap based on the situation.
You can equip up to two talismans at a time. The first slot is unlocked by default; the second requires a specific story beat in Chapter 4. Talismans stack additively but do not duplicate — equipping two of the same talisman is the same as equipping one.
Talisman Slots
2 equippable talismans at endgame. Slot 1 unlocked at Chapter 1, Slot 2 at Chapter 4.
Acquisition
Found in chests, dropped by bosses, purchased from merchants, and rewarded for hidden objectives.
Rarity Tiers
Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary — higher rarity provides stronger effects.
Stacking
Effects from different talismans stack. Effects from the same talisman do not.
Confirmed Talismans
The following talismans have been confirmed in pre-release materials, the demo, or official Capcom communications. This list will be expanded at launch.
Kubi Akari Talisman
Rarity: Rare · Source: Pre-order bonus / Chapter 3 chest
Provides a passive boost to soul absorption efficiency. Specifically, souls absorbed while this talisman is equipped have a 15% chance of being doubled. This makes it one of the strongest farming talismans in the game for players who grind.
Komainu Talisman
Rarity: Rare · Source: Pre-order bonus / Chapter 5 hidden objective
A defensive talisman inspired by the guardian lion statues of Japanese shrine tradition. Reduces incoming damage by 8% and grants a small chance to negate a fatal blow once per rest cycle. Pairs well with aggressive playstyles that take frequent risks.
Oni Ward Talisman
Rarity: Uncommon · Source: Chapter 2 merchant
Reduces damage from Oni-type enemies by 12%. Common drop and a budget option for players who haven't unlocked better talismans. Useful in the early game but outclassed by endgame alternatives.
Soul Siphon Talisman
Rarity: Rare · Source: Chapter 6 mini-boss
Increases red soul drops from all enemies by 20%. Stacks multiplicatively with the Oni Aura skill, making it a top choice for farming runs and soul-heavy builds.
Iron Will Talisman
Rarity: Legendary · Source: Endgame hidden chest
Grants immunity to the first stagger received in any combat encounter. Resets on rest. Excellent for boss fights where a single stagger can lead to a combo death.
Talisman Effects Summary
| Talisman | Rarity | Effect | Source |

| Soul Siphon | Rare | +20% red soul drops | Ch.6 mini-boss |
| Iron Will | Legendary | First stagger immunity per fight | Endgame chest |
Best Talisman Combos
Pairing talismans strategically can dramatically change your combat effectiveness. Here are the best combos for different playstyles:
Soul Farming Build
Kubi Akari + Soul Siphon
Maximum soul income. Soul Siphon boosts drop rates, Kubi Akari adds a 15% chance to double absorbed souls. Combined, you'll accumulate souls roughly 40% faster than baseline.
Boss Slayer Build
Komainu + Iron Will
Maximum survivability. Komainu reduces damage and grants a one-time death save, while Iron Will prevents the opening stagger that often leads to combo deaths. Both reset on rest, making them ideal for boss attempts.
Aggressive Parry Build
Komainu + Kubi Akari
A balanced combo for aggressive players who parry often. Komainu's damage reduction forgives missed parries, while Kubi Akari rewards successful combat with bonus souls.
Rare Talismans
Beyond the confirmed list, Capcom has hinted at additional rare talismans reserved for endgame and New Game Plus content. Based on series tradition, expect:
- Onimusha Talisman — Legendary, tied to the highest difficulty clear
- Way of the Sword Talisman — boosts all katana damage by 25%
- Soul Master Talisman — purple souls drop at double rate
These will be confirmed at launch and added to this list.
Where to Find More
Talismans are scattered across the game in several types of locations:
- Story chests: Each chapter has 1–2 guaranteed talisman drops in main story chests.
- Hidden chests: Off-path chests often contain rare talismans. Check every side room.
- Merchant inventories: Limited stock; rare talismans appear in late-game merchant rotations.
- Boss drops: Every major boss drops a guaranteed talisman on first defeat.
- Pre-order bonuses: Kubi Akari and Komainu are guaranteed for pre-orders.
The talisman list above is based on pre-release information and demo data. Final launch will include additional talismans. This page will be updated with the complete list once the game releases on September 4, 2026.
