1. Overview
Fine Silk Cloth is a high-tier tailoring material in Onimusha: Way of the Sword used to upgrade your armor sets at the tailor. Combined with Tamahagane, collecting every Fine Silk Cloth unlocks the Dressed to Kill trophy.
Fine Silk Cloth is found through three primary sources:
Chests scattered across Kyoto, Nijo-jo Castle, Arashiyama, and Shanaoh Castle
Mission rewards from completing Mysteries of Kyoto (note: one is gated behind a "Mask as Key" puzzle in the Underground Laboratory)
Hidden Oni Treasure chests — five of the 25 Fine Silk Cloth (#14, #15, #18, #20, #24) come exclusively from Hidden Treasure chests
Important — Point of No Return
You can free-roam and find all 25 Fine Silk Cloth up until the Point of No Return before "The Clash At Rendaino". Several chests are in Shanaoh Castle (final area) and the Underground Laboratory (Mid-game puzzle area). Make a manual save before the final sequence to confirm all pickups.
What Fine Silk Cloth Is Used For
Fine Silk Cloth is required for armor/clothing upgrades at the tailor, combined with Hemp + Cotton + Leather. Each armor set has multiple upgrade tiers, and fully enhancing every set demands the entire 25-piece collection.

3. Strategy & Tips
Use Spirit Mirrors as anchors — every chest location references a nearby Spirit Mirror. Fast-travel between mirrors to sweep each region efficiently.
Clear Mysteries of Kyoto as they unlock — six Fine Silk Cloth (#3, #4, #5, #7, #8, #11, #12) come straight from completing named story missions.
Don't skip the Ace Archer at Nijo-jo Castle — one Fine Silk Cloth (#10) comes exclusively from that archery Chance Encounter reward.
Bring a mask to Underground Level 3 — Fine Silk Cloth #6 sits behind a mask-keyed door in the Underground Laboratory puzzle area.
Prioritize the five Hidden Oni Treasure chests — #14, #15, #18, #20, #24 all come from Hidden Treasure chains, which begin when an NPC hands you an Old Drawing.
Re-enter Shanaoh Castle after the late game opens it — Fine Silk Cloth #25 is in a house interior with two possible routes (upstairs crawlspace or downstairs blood pool room).
Dressed to Kill Trophy
The Dressed to Kill trophy requires collecting all 25 Fine Silk Cloth and all 25 Tamahagane. Use our Tamahagane locations guide in parallel to track both materials at once.
