Hozuki Pouches are healing item upgrades. 9 total to find + fully upgrade each to max level for Medical Marvel trophy. First upgrade received during 'Patching up the Pouch' mission via Okuni.
1. Overview
Hozuki Pouches are healing item upgrades in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. There are 9 total Hozuki Pouches: 5 Skeleton Hozuki + 4 Oni Cloth variants (Regeneration, Aggressor, Resistance, Awakening). You must find each pouch AND fully upgrade it to max level to unlock the Medical Marvel trophy.
Your first Hozuki Pouch upgrade is received automatically during the "Patching up the Pouch" mission via the merchant Okuni. From there, you collect the other 8 pouches in the world and gather materials to upgrade them.
Each Hozuki Pouch must be upgraded to its max level (Level 3) for the Medical Marvel trophy. Plan your crafting material gathering accordingly. Skeleton Hozuki is the rarest material and required for every Level 3 upgrade.

The Awakening Pouch cannot be upgraded until you have defeated Shuten Doji. Plan your progression accordingly — you'll need the late-game materials (Malicite, Byakue's Talisman, Dohatsu-ten's Horn) which drop from advanced Genma variants.
4. Strategy & Tips
- 5 Skeleton Hozuki are required — 4 are found in fixed locations, the 5th is in Hidden Treasure No. 5.
- Complete Hidden Treasure No. 5 early — the 5th Skeleton Hozuki is inside that chest. Don't leave it for after the Point of No Return.
- Oni Vision reveals hidden chests in pouch locations. Always toggle it on when you're in the correct area.
- Save before the Point of No Return — you can still free-roam to clean up any pouches you missed.
- Each Level 3 upgrade requires exactly 1 Skeleton Hozuki. Save them carefully.
